Whitney Tilson to Hold Press Conference on Ending Street Homelessness Plan that will expand and improve shelter capacity, build mental health clinic network, and increase city’s housing supply.
WHO: Whitney Tilson, New York City Mayoral Candidate
WHEN: Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 10:00 am. *Prior to the press conference Whitney will be serving breakfast from 8:30am to 930am.
WHERE: Bowery Mission, 227 Bowery Street, New York, New York 10002
WHY: Because in the greatest city in the world, 4,000 New Yorkers should not be sleeping on the street in freezing conditions.
WHAT: Whitney Tilson will hold a press conference to unveil his bold and actionable plan to end street homelessness in New York City once and for all.
For decades, career politicians have failed to solve this crisis—despite spending billions of dollars, the problem persists. More than 4,000 New Yorkers continue to sleep on the streets every night, while the city government wastes resources on a broken system. Tilson’s plan is different. It’s a real solution, backed by better management, expanded services, and smarter policies to provide safe shelter and mental health care while preventing future homelessness.
“Homelessness is not a crime—it’s a tragedy, and the real crime is how our city has failed the thousands of New Yorkers living on the streets,” said Whitney Tilson. “We don’t need more excuses or broken promises. What we need is a mayor who manages the City like it matters. That’s what I’ll do.”
Tilson’s plan focuses on five key strategies, including:
•Expanding and improving shelter capacity so no one is forced to sleep outside.
•Reforming the mental health care system with a network of walk-in clinics and long-term psychiatric care.
•Addressing the housing crisis by cutting red tape and increasing supply.
New Yorkers deserve a mayor who fixes problems, not one who makes excuses.
