Whitney For Mayor Launch Video Resonates with New Yorkers, Gains Endorsements from Bill Ackman and Scott Galloway

Today, the Whitney for Mayor campaign exceeded expectations after fundraising $411,545 across 1,423 individual donors in just six weeks. Of those donations, $141,054.00 are qualified donations from 890 donors.

So far, these are among the highest fundraising numbers announced in a first filing by any democratic candidate currently in the mayoral race. The Whitney for Mayor campaign also released its newest campaign video outlining exactly why Whitney is the change candidate that New York City needs. This video, in combination with endorsements from Bill Ackman and Scott Galloway, shows real momentum behind Whitney.

“New Yorkers are tired of corruption and deserve someone with a record of success. In just six weeks of connecting with voters, Whitney surpassed every career politician. The growing momentum behind our campaign is undeniable. A first-time candidate is leading the Democratic primary,” said campaign manager Trivette Knowles. “As a Co-Founder of Teach For America, a longtime philanthropist, and a successful businessman, Whitney is the type of new management we need in City Hall. It’s undeniable Whitney has the momentum behind him.”

Video Transcript:

Our great city is headed in the wrong direction. It's time to fight for New York's future. I'm Whitney Tilson, and I'm running to be your next mayor of New York City.

I believe our best days are still ahead, but only if we have the courage to change course. Just since 2020, 707,000 people have left, the second highest population loss among our 50 largest cities.

Local businesses like Lexington Pizza are the lifeblood of our city. But due to failed leadership from the same old career politicians, thriving businesses like this one are shuttering their doors.

Families are leaving because they can't afford skyrocketing rents, their neighborhoods aren't safe, and the education system is failing their children. As mayor, I will represent all New Yorkers. I will invest in you, bringing businesses back to New York City and support our families.

New York is the greatest city in the world. That's why my wife and I decided to raise our family right here. Over the past 30 years I built a half dozen small businesses, fought for a better education for our children as one of the founders of Teach for America, and risked my life on the front lines in Ukraine providing aid to our brave allies.

I've built companies that exposed corporate fraud on 60 Minutes, and when Covid hit I volunteered 12 hours a day building the field hospital in Central Park, while Eric Adams and other career politicians pander to special interest groups.

I offer an alternative as the only candidate in this race who doesn't owe anything to anyone. I will always do what is right for you, the people of New York. Let's bring safety, affordability and prosperity back to the city.

I'm Whitney Tilson, and I'm running to be your next mayor of New York City.
